Titanic Auction...

 

Interesting item up for auction tomorrow at the RMS Titanic Auction in Belfast.  Pictured above are a set of keys up for bidding.  Apparently these keys are to the box on the bridge that contained the ship's binoculars.  The officer in charge of the keys was replaced last minute for the voyage.  He forgot to give the keys to his replacement so they had access to the binoculars.  He also had the keys for the binocular box in the crows nest as well.  His failure to turn the keys in left the crew without the ability to get to the binoculars during the doomed voyage.

Did this mistake impair the ability of the crew to properly scan for approaching icebergs?  Some say yes.  I am more wondering...They couldn't get into this box somehow?

Creative, and they probably will sell a crap load of them.  Except to Mets fans, who are already used to getting burned year after year already.

The Yankees were presented with their 2009 World Series Championship Rings today at Yankee Stadium.  The best moment was saved for last as Series MVP Hideki Matsui, now a member of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, was also awarded his ring from the visitor dugout.  Continuing the motto of keeping the clubhouse loose from last year, shenanigans continued.  The Captain, Derek Jeter pre ceremony apparently replaced Matsui's ring with a cheap tin one.  After a laugh the real ring was replaced. Hideki was not alone in the prank as Nick Swisher also fell victim, this time at the hands of Mariano Rivera. 

Conan to TBS...

I can't sit here and say that I am a HUGE fan of Conan.  I didn't faithfully watch every episode of his.  I can say that through the power of YouTube and HULU I have seen quite a bit of his stuff.  He has always provided a laugh and seemed to be the younger alternative to the days of Letterman and Leno.  Triumph the Insult Comedy Dog is always hilarious and I can still remember back in my college days Rebecca and I laughing at his "In the Year 2000" sketches.  With that said I am excited for his new venture.  I am even more excited with the time slot.  A few days ago I was saying how I wished there was a Late Night Talk show that came on at a reasonable hour.  The 11:30 regulars are just too late for me.  The new 11pm time slot is a bit better.  Lets hope his success continues.  I know I will be watching.
